Kitchen Remodel Debris Guide | Deltona, FL

What actually comes out of a kitchen or bathroom remodel, how to size the dumpster for it, and how to time delivery around your contractor.

Kitchen Remodel Debris Guide | Deltona, FL

A kitchen or bathroom remodel generates a very specific mix of debris — some of it bulky and light, some of it surprisingly heavy — and knowing which is which before you book makes for a much better-sized container.

What actually comes out of a kitchen remodel

  • Old cabinetry — bulky but relatively light
  • Countertops — heavy, especially stone or tile-based surfaces
  • Flooring — variable weight depending on material
  • Appliances — bulky, and heavy if they contain refrigerant (handle separately)
  • Drywall and backsplash material — moderate weight in volume

Bathroom remodel debris

  • Tile — heavy, especially a full tear-out down to the subfloor
  • Vanity and cabinetry — bulky, moderate weight
  • Tub or shower enclosure — bulky and can be surprisingly heavy depending on material
  • Toilet and fixtures — moderate weight, handle with some care for the container's rails

Sizing by scope

  • Kitchen only, cabinetry and flooring: 15 yard
  • Kitchen with stone countertop tear-out: consider a 20 yard given the added weight
  • Kitchen and bathroom together: 20 yard
  • Bathroom only, single room: 10 or 15 yard

Why mentioning countertop and tile material matters

Two remodels that look identical in scope — cabinetry, flooring, fixtures — can price and size very differently depending on whether the countertop is laminate or granite, and whether the bathroom tile is a thin layer or a thick, mortar-set installation. Telling us the material specifics up front avoids an under-sized container and a mid-project scramble for a second one.

Timing delivery around your contractor

Most kitchen and bathroom remodels benefit from delivery on the demolition day itself rather than days ahead — an empty container sitting on the driveway before demo starts is wasted rental time. Coordinate the start date with your contractor and tell us that date when you book.

A note on new construction versus renovation debris

If your remodel is part of a larger addition or new-construction project rather than a straightforward kitchen or bathroom swap, our new-construction guide covers the framing and buildout side of that debris separately.

Frequently asked questions

What size dumpster do I need for a kitchen remodel?

A 15 yard covers most single-kitchen remodels. A combined kitchen-and-bathroom remodel, or a kitchen with a full cabinet and flooring tear-out, usually points toward a 20 yard.

Is old cabinetry heavy or bulky debris?

Mostly bulky — cabinetry takes up real volume without weighing as much as its size suggests, unlike tile or countertop material.

What about old countertops?

Granite, quartz and tile countertops are genuinely heavy — mention the countertop material when you book so we can size for the actual weight, not just the cabinetry volume.
